Falling out between myself and my father in law

My wife's father lives in an in-law apartment in the basement of my house. 16 Years ago my wife and I sold our old house and my father in law sold his house and 25% of his sales went into the house we currently live in. He made the check out to my wife at the time and their agreement was that he would live there rent free for the rest of his years. Any other money he has contributed over the years have been given to my wife. 3 years ago my wife of 32 years passed away from cancer. I have since been taking care and supporting him over the years. We had a falling out about a year and half ago and I have repeatedly told him I would like for him to leave and go live with his son in his house. He refuses to go. My daughter and her boyfriend now live in the house and I would like my own living space by being in the in-law apartment in my own house. I have contacted my father in laws son about this matter and he refuses to have his father live with him or move to an assisted living space. I have no choice but to get the law involved since they will not listen to me. What are the steps I should take to evict my father in law?
