I just found out that I won't be receiving a paycheck for my next three weeks of work because there was an error in the financial department. Classes that I took that were suppose to be tax free up until the first $5,250 are now not tax free because the company never submitted the appropriate paperwork. As a result I will have three paychecks with $0 written on them to make up for these taxes. Are companies allowed to not pay you for work because of an error they committed in filing the appropriate tax forms?

no pay check
Whoa. That is a big mistake. I can't say if what the company is doing violates the Massachusetts Wage Act (because of my inexperience in this area of the law). However, at a minimum, it seems you should be able to sustain a claim against the company. I would contact a Massachusetts employment law attorney and discuss this matter. If the attorney believes you have a valid claim, a simple letter from her might convince the company to compensate you. Your attorney will also be able to explain how, and to what extent, you are protected from any type of retaliation by the employer. Good luck.
Thank you!
