If an employee was terminated Sunday night (after emailing/texting the employer that he would not be able to keep his Monday's hours that he was usually scheduled to work), when does his last paycheck have to be issued? He was paid the following Monday via electronic payroll. Is this late according to MA law? If yes, how could he be paid Sunday? Thanks.

Last paycheck
As you know, under Massachusetts law, employees who are fired should be paid on the day they are terminated. I don't practice in this area of the law and honestly do not know if such a minor infraction would register on the radar of the state. I doubt it. I suppose if I were advising an employer how to deal with this situation in the future, I would suggest firing the employer on Monday, when the money could be paid more easily, or doing the wire transfer on the day of the termination. Sorry I can't offer more help.
