How long will I get my Social Security Disability payments?  (Posted on the Forum by RichardH.)

Editor's Response:

Your SSDI benefits typically continue until you are able to work again on a regular basis. If you are able to go back to work, but are worried about the transition, qualified individuals may be eligible for certain "work incentives" that provide continued benefits and health care coverage as you make the transition.

If you are still receiving Social Security disability benefits when you reach retirement age, your benefits will remain unchanged, but will convert to social security retirement benefits.
