My mother has to renew her license next month and she is worried about the eye exam. She tends to get flustered when she does the exam and one year she almost failed. Let me explain though, she is a good driver and with glasses she sees fine. I read about a process under MA law that allows people to skip the eye exam if their doctor agees. Do you know about that?

Sounds like you are talking about a Vision Screening Certificate. Pretty easy to do, actually. Your mom just needs to talk to her physician or optometrist. Any doctor or optometrist licensed in Massachusetts can examine your mom (in the calm and comfort of the office) and then fill out the VSC. The Registry of Motor Vehicles will accept the VSC in lieu of the eye exam. Good luck, and please tell your friends about The Forum.
