Do men get higher benefits than women when they get SSDI benefits, or is it based on the severity of the disability? I have a five dollar bet riding on this so any answer would be appreciated. Thanks

No. The amount you are eligible to collect is based on how much you have paid into the system. The social Security Administration uses a somewhat complicated formula to calculated benefits, but it has nothing to do with gender or the severity of the disability (as long as it is severe enough to meet the SSA's definition of 'disability'.)
