Divorce with spouse outside of the country...

Hi There,

I have done a great deal of research and can't seem to tie up a few loose ends with this process.

My husband is living outside of the US and we are both in agreement that we must file for divorce. We have no property together, no shared accounts, not much of anything, though he has some savings. I don't want anything from him, nor him from me.

Here are the questions:

1. Can he sign and notarize the petition there in his country? If so, would he then send it to me and I can file?
2. Can he sign a waiver of service which also covers notifications about the proceedings? Does this waiver get filed along with the petition? Does this have to be a notarized document as well?
3. If he is not able to appear at a hearing, is there anything special that needs to be done by him?

For now that's it. I am sure I have more questions, but let's start there.

Thanks for the help in advance. This is a jungle of information!
