Delay at family court in MA waiting for judge

Hi. I filed a motion to modify child support to get my husband to pay more and we had a hearing nearly two months ago. I did this on my own because I can't afford an attorney so I have nobody to guide me on this. But is seems like two months is a long time to wait for the judge at family court to make her decision. This is crazy and we really need the increased support because I lost a lot of hours and my husband can afford it. Any thoughts on how I can get the judge to speed up the decision? Is it normal for a judge at divorce court to take this long on such an important matter?

Waiting for family court judge ruling

That does sound frustrating.  Unfortunately, there is not much you can do to increase the speed of justice at the Probate and Family Court. A two month wait is not an unusual delay. There is another post on this forum dealing with how long decisions at family court can take.  I find myself in agreement with advice offered in that post.  Wait a reasonable time and then write an appropriate letter to the court. With any luck, you will get a response from one of the clerks.  You may not get the answer you want, but at least you will know that the case has not fallen through the cracks.  Good luck.
