I need to transfer my dad's property into my name (with his permission, of course). Can I do this myself? If not how much will an attorney charge to do it. Thanks.

Deeds are not that complicated, but you do need to make sure you use the form of deed you desire (quitclaim, warranty, etc.) and make sure you have an accurate property description. However, an improperly drafted deed can create a title defect, which can cost thousands of dollars to “repair” and become a serious headache. So I would suggest that you consider working with an attorney if at all possible.
In a straight-forward transfer, most attorneys will only charge about an hour of time to prepare the deed and help you execute it ($200 to $250 or so). Then there will be recording fees (charged by the state) of AT LEAST $125. So you should plan on a minimum of $300 or so. Good luck.
