How could I go about representing myself in an 'unfair dismissal' case? Essentially, where would I begin my research and would I be able to plead my case (providing it gets that far) in front of a judge and not a jury? I am thinking past decisions might be valuable as well.
I have tried to attract interest in this case but with treble damages (breach of contract) I think the reasonable settlement would only be about $ 60,000.00
I'm a novice so please consider that in your response.
Thank you

Wow, I would like to be more optimistic, but representing yourself in that type of case will be a herculean challenge. Cornell University has a great site that talks about legal research (how to) and provides a lot of resources: http://www.law.cornell.edu/
Good luck!
OK, thanks, another question
Thank you for the lead. I would not go to this extreme if I could find someone to take this on a contingency basis...is it possible to find a good lawyer who would work a case that may only carry a
$ 60,000.00 remedy? Because this involves unfair dismissal but also possible breach of contract do I go with a lawyer versed in Education law or Contract...I have filed a complaint with the Board of Higher Ed, OCR, and the AG's office as well as accrediting agency.. have gotten nowhere, EXCEPT the accrediting agency is holding an investigation and will mail me their findings in February.
Do you have any suggestions on how to find legal assistance without huge out of pocket expenses?
Thanks

Sorry, but this is not my area of specialty. I think what you need to do is discuss your case with an attorney who does litigation. However, lawyers in Massachusetts will not take a contract case on a contingency basis. Talk to a couple and find out if they think you have a legitimate claim. If they do, but you do not want to pay their fees, at least you will get some idea of the strength of your claim or, in the alternative, why your claim may not be worth pursuing.
