Condo unit owners insurance responsibility

I am the owner of one half of a duplex. The property has
a master deed, and the Condo docs call for a master insurance policy. I purchased a policy for the condo trust and the owner of the other unit refuses to pay their share. What would be my best course of action?

Tommy, I would say you should first look at the condominium documents for guidance regarding your options.  Without knowing the specifics of the situation, it is hard to comment about your best response.  However, if you feel the other owner is not living up to a responsibility outlined in the documents, you can try small claims court.  These two and three unit condos cause many problems.  If you think you can salvage the relationship, perhaps you and the other owner should find a condo attorney that you both agree on, pay for an hour or two of his or her time, and sit down and talk about your obligations under the documents and about how to settle the current disagreement.  Good luck, and please tell your friends about The Forum.
