We live in a small building of three condos. The owners of the unit above us recently moved out and rented their unit to college students. The students are nice people, but their music is SO LOUD. and they have no rugs or pads. We can hear every single footstep. I'm wondering if the people who own the unit above have any sort of obligation legally to soundproof the unit now that they are landlords and have renters. Our condo docs are useless, we've read and re-read them. There is nothing written about renting or tenants really. Now, as owners of our unit, we're screwed! We are a family with chidlren.

Condo owners rights
Hello,
We are in a similar situation. We did ask the manager to get in touch with the owner which he did and provided us with a tlephone #. Helped only a little. Are main issue continues to be a problem and it appears we have to deal with it. Does not feel like we have any rights and the renter has the all the protection.
Will be speaking to our board for starters. Will read our Condo docs but suspect like you will find they are not helpfull. I suspect the board will have to agree on area rugs etc. have you found out any other info?
Wish this could be more helpful
