I've asked my condo association trustees numerous times over the past year or so to perform common maintenance to my outside decks that (per the by-laws) they are responsible to maintain, but have not. At a recent condo meeting that I was unable to attend, a motion was proposed to pass on the responsibility of deck maintenance to each individual owner as a common cost reduction. Since I seem to be the only owner in need of maintenance, and this has already been noted as a "pre-existing" condition...am I now on the hook to spend my money to have the necessary maintenance performed ?????

Repairs to common areas of condominium
I'm sorry, but that makes no sense to me. My confusion could be caused by the fact that I really do not have a lot of experience dealing with condominium associations and the laws that govern them, or it could be that your association is dysfunctional and full of what makes the grass grow green. Depending on the amount of money involved, you may want to contact a Massachusetts attorney who deals with a condominium associations on a regular basis. Often a strongly worded letter on an attorney's letterhead will cause the board members to become more cooperative. Sorry I can't offer more help. Good luck.
