While I was transitioning out of the military, my wife and I decided to move us and our children to her parents house (in MA).
No lease was signed, and no money changed hands, but it was understood that we had to help around the house and yard if we were to stay there. I changed my residency from my home state(MI) to MA and got a MA driver's license.
With all of the stress piled onto us, we fought. After one of these fights, I went to MI to cool off as that was the only place I had to go. I was then informed that my wife and her parents decided I could not come back.
My wife and I are getting a divorce now and I have had an extreme financial burden since the eviction.
I have extremely condensed the story for time sake, but that is the gist of it.
Can I sue for wrongful eviction as an at-will tenant, or am I considered a guest despite doing work around the house?
