I have sort of a complicated work history especially during the last year or so as I tried several jobs but couldn't make it work because of my issues with my back. I have all the dates and issues written down but will I be able to use those notes during my hearing? Or will that make me look like I'm making it up? Thanks.

I know I say this every time but, especially at the hearing phase, I believe SSDI claimants do better when represented by a disability attorney. Having said that, I believe the judge will allow you to refer to you notes if you need to refresh your memory. You should not try to read directly from the notes, however. Your question is a good one, because the judge will almost certainly ask you to talk about your unsuccessful work attempts and to explain how long you worked and why you were unable to remain on the job. He or she will not think you are lying because you need to refresh your memory. Good luck.
