months ago i went to a dentist appt and they told me i needed some serious work done, and after insurance payments my portion would be $1500 so i paid it, cash. i have a receipt that shows the payment, but as we started to go through the procedures it became apparent that the only option would be to pull the tooth. i was informed that the insurance companies would be reimbursed for the claims submitted for work that would now not be done, yet i never received a refund on my portion of the payment. through emails with their office they have told me i am due approx $950 but it has been weeks since i've heard from them and they refuse to respond to emails at this point. other than going to their office and making a scene, which i'd rather not do, what are my options ?

Consumer complaint against dentist or doctor
Even though dentists and doctors are healthcare professionals, they are still businesses--engaged in commerce--within the meaning of the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act (93A). If you like, you can send a demand letter to the dentist demanding a refund of the money owed to you. You can also contact the Massachusetts Department of Health and Human Services to register a complaint against the dentist. You could also try informing the person who answers the phone that you are planning on taking one or both of these steps if you do not hear back about the money in X days. That might move things along. If not, follow the link above for tips on drafting the demand letter. Good luck.
