Can a group home legally not pay me for hours worked?

Hello. I work for a group home and I'm scheduled to chaperone one of our residents on a weekend vacation. I was told that I would only be getting paid for 8 hours a day, but in reality I'm going to be working 24 hours a day. Is this legal?

Pay for residential situations

As you know, MA law typically requires employers to pay employees for all hours actually worked.  However, I do not know the answer to your question.  I do know that there are exceptions to federal and Massachusetts wage laws for non-profit organizations and for unusual employment situations, such as summer camp counselors.  You can try calling the Attorney General's Fair Labor Hotline:  (617) 727-3465
