Break lease because of admission to nursing home in MA?

MA Landlord and Tenant Law Questions and Answers

My elderly parent can no longer care for himself in a safe manner. And since he is only on SS Income, there are not enough services available in the community to provide a really high level of care every day. So he has been admitted to a Nursing Home. However, he just signed an apartment lease with 10 months remaining. I see no provision for early termination for Nursing Home Admission. I was told that Massachusetts allows this as de facto and it is not necessary to have the provision stated in the lease. Is this true?
