i put up $25,000 cash bail for a friend who has since missed his last court date. now i am to attend a bail forfeiture hearing this week. what should i expect to happen at this hearing?

Ouch . . . That is a lot of money. Sadly, I know nothing about this area of law, but am willing to guess that unless your "friend" shows up very quickly with a pretty good excuse for his absence, you are going to be out $25k. Given the money involved, do yourself a favor and contact a criminal law attorney to help you with this matter. He or she should be able to tell you in one phone call if there is anything you can do. Good luck.
