I work in industrial commercial supplies and ran the branch for my company. We dealt with large sums of money on a daily basis. Tens of thousands of dollars in cash passed thru my hands every week. We should have 5-7 people working at the branch but due to the economy being the way it is I only had 2 emplyees. I was working 80 hour weeks and one day I receive a couple payments from customers for a few thousand dollars apiece. I did the proper paper work for the payment. I was by myself at the branch due to my employyes both being out on deliveries. and we don't have a lockable area to keep the money so just like many other times I put the money in my jacket pocket in an envelope. Now this is something that happened often. I would make deliveries and collect sums of money like this outside the store all the time. I was running around doing the job of 3 people when a few hours later I reached for the money and it was gone. I searched everywhere for it. I continued looking for it the next day and when I couldn't find it, I called my boss. I passed in my key and a police investigation was done. I was cleared by the police and was told I would not get unemployment because they did not want to pay anymore money since I already cost them this much. And I was instructed to pay back the money in installments. I tried filing anyways. They disputed.
Do I have a chance? The adjuster still hasn't gotten back to me. It's been 4 weeks.
