I knew my wife since we were little back in our country. She petitioned for me to come to the USA. My visa was sped up because our daughter was going to be born. Once I got to the USA and our child was born, she made my life impossible. She was very jealous. We lived together for about a month and then she threw me out of the house. Also, she kept my immigration papers. She took a restraining order against me, when she is the one who has been abusive. Now she is filing for annulment saying I married her just to come to this country. She was the one who wanted me to come and petitioned for me. Things are difficult for me as I am new to this country and don't know many people or how the legal system works. I got a paper from the court saying that I am in contempt because I have not paid $61.00 a week in child support and I now owe about $4,000. I never got a notice to go to court in the first place. I have not paid child support because I have no job and I am not authorized to work here. My wife kept all my immigration papers. I want to leave the US before my visa expires because I don't want to live here illegally and I don't want to put at risk any possibility of coming back to the USA. What can I do? What can I tell the judge? What trouble can this bring me? Do I still have to pay support if I don't make any money and I'm not allowed to work in the USA? I also want to fight the annulment. Can I file a counter claim for divorce? Thank you.
