We have a new manager now, but I'm worried about what the old manager might have put in my file because we did not get along. I asked the Human resources guy to see my file and he said I had no right to see it. What does MA law say?

MA law says your HR guy is wrong. Under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 149 Section 52C, not only are employees allowed to view their files, they are allowed to write and insert rebuttals to any adverse reports they discover. The section says, in relevant part:
"If there is a disagreement with any information contained in a personnel record, removal or correction of such information may be mutually agreed upon by the employer and the employee. If an agreement is not reached, the employee may submit a written statement explaining the employee’s position which shall thereupon be contained therein and shall become a part of such employee’s personnel record. The statement shall be included when said information is transmitted to a third party as long as the original information is retained as part of the file."
